West Craven High School’s Guidance Department offers a variety of services for its students. We are open from 7:30 am until 4:00 pm each school day. You are welcome to stop by or call for an appointment.
Students may also discuss personal problems with their counselor. Students are served by counselors in accordance with the first letter of their last names:

New Student Enrollment

New students are required to present the following documents upon enrollment:

Proof of Residence (Utility Bill, deed, or lease agreement)
Immunization (Shot Record)
Parent/Guardian Photo ID
Birth Certificate
Report Card/Withdrawal form
Individualized Education Plan (IEP) - if applicable
Legal Custody Papers - if applicable

Student Withdrawal Process

The steps in the withdrawal process are as follows:

1. The student will need to pick up a withdrawal form from the counseling secretary. A parent or guardian must physically come into the counseling office with the withdrawal form completely filled out with a photo id proving they are parent or guardian to withdraw the student.
2. The student must return all books and check out with each of his/her teachers and media center. If any textbooks or library books are owed, the student will need to return the books or pay to replace them prior to withdrawing.
3. Once the student completes the withdrawal process, the counseling secretary will gie the parent or guardian a copy of the withdrawal forms. Official records will be mailed to the receiving school upon their request for records.


Current Students must request transcripts through Mrs. Dunsworth. There is a $2.00 charge for each transcript.

Graduates and Former Students must complete Transcript request form available in the front office or on-line at the county website.
Turn around time approximately 2 weeks
Cost $2.00 per transcript

We have internet capable computer stations for student use before and after school as well as during the student’s lunch time or study hall. This can be used for college exploration, scholarship exploration, career searches as well as resume preparation or other word processing jobs.

We strive to keep up-to-date college information available for students to check out or look through in our office. Other information available includes military videos, college videos, handouts, Career Outlook Manuals, SAT and ACT information, and many more valuable tools to plan your life. Stop by and see us.
